These men's casual mixed-panel denim trousers are made in Japan by Sugar Cane, a workwear-focused label under Toyo Enterprise that is renowned for its vintage-inspired craftsmanship. This particular model is part of the MFSC collection, a special collaboration between the American brand Mister Freedom and the Japanese label Sugar Cane. Designed by Mister Freedom and manufactured by Sugar Cane with both brands' signature attention to detail, the trousers offer a modern reinterpretation of vintage workwear and utility pants. They are constructed from two different selvedge denim fabrics in a two-tone multi-panel layout that creates an asymmetrical contrast between the left and right legs, including the pockets. The result is a pair of jeans that evokes classic American workwear while blending seamlessly into today's casual style and balancing heritage aesthetics with everyday wearability. The left leg is made from a 14-ounce left-hand twill selvedge denim with a pronounced neppy texture and a slightly reddish cast, dyed with Okinawan Ryukyu indigo and woven with a blend that incorporates sugar cane fibers. In contrast, the right leg features a 14-ounce right-hand twill selvedge denim with a cooler bluish tone, dyed with Hawaiian indigo and likewise blended with sugar cane fibers. By combining these two distinct denims in a single pair of jeans, the design creates a distinctive two-tone look that clearly highlights the character of each fabric. In addition, the construction of the legs is intentionally different. The left leg is cut from a single panel, so it has an inseam but no outseam. The right leg is built from two panels, so it features both an inseam and an outseam. For storage, these jeans are equipped with three patch pockets: two rivet-reinforced hand pockets at the top that wrap from the front to the back of the hips, one on each side, and an additional selvedge-edged patch pocket on the left leg. The left hand pocket is made from the Hawaiian indigo denim, while the right hand pocket and the leg pocket on the left side are made from the Okinawan indigo denim, creating intentional left-right asymmetry in both color and texture. There is also a reinforced knee patch on the right leg, finished with a selvedge edge along the lower side and made from the Okinawa indigo denim. Together, these pockets and the knee patch add extra visual interest and accent to the design. Additional construction details include seven belt loops in mixed narrow and wide widths and a cinch-back strap at the rear. The hem is finished with a very wide stitch, and the inside of the left hem is fitted with a logo-printed patch that is intended to serve as a visual accent when the jeans are worn with the hem rolled up. Please note that because of this special patch inside the hem, hemming is not available for this particular model. As part of the finishing process, the jeans are pre-washed to minimize further shrinkage, a process often referred to in Japan as "one-wash." These pants feature a loose straight fit with a high-rise waist, button fly, and full-length leg. The wide-leg silhouette takes its inspiration from vintage work pants. The cut is roomy through the seat and thighs and falls straight to the hem, creating a relaxed, comfortable fit reminiscent of classic utility work trousers. This is a brand-new original release from the collaborative collection between Sugar Cane and Mister Freedom, blending vintage aesthetics with the craftsmanship of both brands.
