This men's casual short-sleeved, vertical-striped button-up shirt with a camp collar is crafted in Japan by Sun Surf, a renowned Hawaiian shirt brand from Toyo Enterprise. This shirt is a reissue of a design originally made by 'UNION SUPPLY', a workwear brand from Hawaii. The historical "UNION SUPPLY Co., Ltd", established in 1922 by Yasuda Kayoji in Hawaii, was a workwear company that primarily provided workwear to Japanese immigrants in Hawaii. The company also distributed other goods and imported fabrics from Japan. UNION SUPPLY has since ceased operations. However, Sun Surf, a brand from Toyo Enterprises in Japan, has revived the brand, even replicating the original label design. This product is a reproduction of work shirts that UNION SUPPLY originally crafted using "SENSUJI stripe" fabric imported from Japan at that time. The "SENSUJI" stripe refers to a design element commonly found in traditional Japanese textiles, particularly in items such as kimonos, obis (the belt worn with a kimono), and other fabric goods. The term "SENSUJI" literally translates to "thousand lines" or "fine lines" in Japanese, indicating the characteristic appearance of this pattern. Made from a 100% cotton, heavyweight, non-stretch fabric with thick yarns woven into navy, red, and white vertical stripes. The shirt is crafted from a high-density, thick fabric with a firm and sturdy texture, inspired by workwear. It features a stiff, crisp feel, offering excellent durability. Additionally, as part of the finishing process, it is pre-washed (also known as one-wash) to minimize shrinkage and to achieve a vintage appearance. This shirt features a front wooden baamboo button closure (the topmost button is made from shell, while the others are made from bamboo), a Hawaiian loop collar (camp collar), short sleeves, two chest patch pockets, a double-layer shoulder yoke, and a straight hemline.
