Buzz Rickson M-65 Coat (No Hood, No Liner) Men's Casual Reproduction of US Army M65 Lightweight Fishtail Overcoat BR14719 Olive
This men's casual thigh-length, stand-collar, unlined, lightweight single-layer coat is crafted in Japan by Buzz Rickson, a renowned military clothing brand from Toyo Enterprise. This coat is a reproduction of the iconic U.S. Army M-65 fishtail parka. The fishtail parka was originally introduced to the U.S. Army in the 1950s and was used by American soldiers to endure the freezing conditions during the Korean War. The M-51 fishtail parka was later replaced by its lighter version, the M-65 fishtail parka. In the 1960s, the M-65 fishtail parka became a symbol of the mod subculture. Although it has since been replaced in the U.S. military by the Extended Cold Weather Clothing System (ECWCS), the M-65 fishtail parka remains iconic. The M-65 fishtail parka was the successor to the M-51 parka. The main difference between the two is that the M-51 had an integrated hood and body, while the M-65 introduced a detachable hood and a stand collar. This Buzz Rickson coat is a reproduction of the M-65 version without the hood or liner. It is constructed from a lightweight olive-colored oxford weave fabric made of 50% cotton and 50% nylon. The features of this Buzz Rickson coat include a thigh-length design, stand collar, front zip closure with a snap-button storm flap, a distinctive fishtail hem at the back, adjustable drawstrings at the waist and hem for a customizable fit, adjustable button tab cuffs with inner elastic, and two exterior pockets with flap closures secured by hidden snap buttons. This item is offered in US/EU sizes. The fit of this coat, like the original, is designed to be worn as an overcoat with enough room to layer over a jacket. Please note: While the inside of this coat includes buttons for attaching a liner and the stand collar has buttonholes for attaching a hood, this product does not come with a hood or liner. This item is a new, original creation from Buzz Rickson, combining the historical accuracy of the M-65 parka with modern durability.
