This sashiko jacket, crafted by the Japanese casualwear brand Kojima Genes, features a lightweight, single-layer construction without any lining or padding. Kojima Genes is a modern denim label in Japan, known for incorporating Japanese craftsmanship and contemporary elements into classic American clothing. The jacket is made from traditional Japanese sashiko fabric and is designed after the iconic classic second model denim jacket. By blending the timeless style with traditional Japanese sashiko fabric, the jacket has been redesigned to maintain a classic design while offering a more contemporary casual style and fit for fashion purposes. The jacket uses 100% cotton 13 oz. medium-weight sashiko fabric dyed with indigo using a post-dyeing technique. Additionally, this jacket is pre-washed (one-washed) in the finishing process to give it a vintage appearance and minimize shrinkage. It features a front closure with five metal buttons, front and back yokes, stitched-down double pleats on the front, a pointed fold-down collar, twin flap chest pockets with button closures, rear side pleats, single-button cuffs, and buttoned tabs at the back hem. This item is a new, original creation by Kojima Genes, blending classic elements with sashiko fabric in a modern style.

Fabric Type : 100% cotton 13oz. Sashiko fabric. Sashiko (little stabs or little pierce), a Japanese traditional running stitch technique, is originally used to reinforce fabric, but was also highly valued for its decorative beauty. The raised and indented effects produced by the stitches interact with light and shadow, adding depth and dimension to the fabric. Sashiko fabric is known for its unmatched durability, and is widely used in protective gear for Judo, Kendo, and Aikido arts. It combines the toughness and the natural softness for comfort. This sashiko fabric is woven on specialized jacquard looms to recreate traditional Japanese sashiko fabric. It is made from 100% undyed cotton yarns for both the warp and weft, as well as the running stitches.The fabric, initially in its natural undyed color, is then post-dyed (over-dyed) with indigo, resulting in a deep, rich color. This indigo-dyed Sashiko fabric is then cut and tailored into a jacket. Since the fabric is dyed post-production, it fades uniformly with wear and wash, creating a consistent and attractive patina over time. Additionally, this jacket is pre-washed (one-washed) in the finishing process to give it a vintage appearance and minimize shrinkage. With wear, the Sashiko fabric will fade beautifully, enhancing its character. This unpadded lightweight outerwear piece can be worn year-round, especially in spring and fall.
Lining and Interlining (Type of insulation ) : Unlined, single-ply, No fill, No inside padding, Suitable for all year round, especially in spring and fall.
Placket type : 5 buttons on front opening. Buttons are antique finished custom engraved iron buttuns for fade and a broken-in appearance and vintage look. The buttons are a notable feature, with a silver-tone finish that has an aged look, complementing the jacket's vintage aesthetic.
Collar : Shirt-style turn-down point collar.
Pocket : Two chest pockets with flaps. The flaps on the chest pockets have button closures. No hand pockets.
Cuff type : The jacket features a single-button cuff with a sleeve placket, also known as cuff slits. These slits make it easier to put on and take off the jacket.

Other details : Leather patch applied to lining. Waist adjusters on both sides of back hem. Since this item is indigo-dyed, it's prone to crocking, or color transfer, so wear (and wash) it with dark colors till it's worn in.

Sleeve Length
Lay the clothing flat and measure from center back of base of collar seam to the end of the cuff
Shoulder Width
Lay the clothing flat and measure shoulder seam to shoulder seam
Lay Jeans/Pants flat, face up and do not stretch or pull fabric.
Waist
Measure flat across the back waistband from one side to the other with the natural dip. Double the number to get actual waist size.
Inseam
Measure from the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg on the inside seam.
