The fine stripe pattern on the main body is positioned vertically. On selected components, including the back yoke, cuffs, and side gussets, the fabric direction is changed so that the stripe pattern runs horizontally instead.
Although the same jean-cord stripe fabric is used throughout the garment, changing the direction of the cloth from one component to another creates subtle variation in the appearance of the stripes and adds a restrained visual accent to the overall design.
Rounded Shirttail Hem
The lower edge is finished with a rounded shirttail profile. The front and back sections remain relatively flat across much of their width, while the hem gradually rises toward both side seams.

Three-Row Chain-Stitch Runoff
Three rows of chain-stitch runoff are deliberately left extending from the lower side seams. Chain-stitch runoff is formed when a chain-stitch sewing machine continues feeding thread after the seam has passed beyond the edge of the fabric, allowing the interlocking thread loops to continue without fabric between them and form narrow chains of linked stitches.
These runoff tails are not simply three loose strands of thread twisted together and attached to the hem. They are direct continuations of the chain stitching used in the side-seam construction itself.
Leaving the chain-stitch runoff deliberately untrimmed reproduces a sewing detail associated with vintage American work shirts and older workwear manufacturing methods. Because the runoff hangs freely below the side seams, its length, direction, and the way the thread chains gather may vary slightly from one garment to another.
These variations are normal. The visible chain-stitch tails are not evidence of unfinished sewing, loose stitching, or an overlooked trimming operation. They are an intentional construction detail used to reproduce the character of classic workwear.
Triple-Needle Stitching at Major Seams
Triple-needle stitching is used at major areas exposed to repeated movement and pulling, including the shoulder seams, armholes, back-yoke seam, and side seams.
Three parallel rows of stitching reinforce the joined fabric sections, increasing the strength and stability of these seams during repeated wear and laundering. This is a practical construction method intended to reinforce areas that are regularly subjected to body movement and tension.
In addition to its reinforcing function, the multiple parallel stitch lines remain clearly visible on the exterior of the garment and contribute to the distinctive appearance associated with traditional work-shirt construction.
