This men's leather garrison belt is made in Japan by Buzz Rickson's, the military label of Toyo Enterprises. It is a reproduction of the U.S. Army "BELT, LEATHER, ENLISTED MAN'S," a service-uniform belt commonly referred to as a Garrison Belt.

Unlike belts intended for field equipment, the original model was worn by U.S. Army enlisted personnel with the service uniform. This reproduction is based on an original example bearing a 1939 date marking and recreates the distinctive construction, hardware configuration, and formal military appearance of the period.

Although original examples were predominantly produced in Brown, this Buzz Rickson's reproduction is available in both Brown and Black. The Black version retains the vintage military character of the original design while making the belt easy to coordinate with denim, chinos, military trousers, and a wide range of modern casual outfits.

The belt uses a fixed-length construction and cannot be shortened or resized by cutting the strap.
The leather strap measures approximately 42 mm, or 1.65 inches, in width and approximately 3 mm, or 0.12 inches, in thickness.
The belt has five adjustment holes spaced at 1-inch, or approximately 2.5 cm, intervals.

As a general guideline, select a belt size approximately 2 to 3 inches larger than the waist size of the pants you normally wear. However, the most suitable size may vary depending on the rise and cut of the trousers, the thickness of the fabric, and the position at which you prefer to wear the belt. The strap is made from vegetable-tanned cowhide. Measuring approximately 42 mm wide and 3 mm thick, the leather has a substantial yet practical profile, with a firm body, resilient structure, and tightly compacted fiber character. The vegetable-tanning process allows the leather to develop greater depth, surface character, and individuality through continued wear.

A creased border line is applied along the edges of the strap using traditional leather edge-working techniques. This treatment visually defines the perimeter, gives the strap a cleaner and sharper outline, and helps reinforce the edges against wear.

The buckle consists of a square-shaped metal frame fitted with a single prong. The leather strap wraps around the buckle's center bar, folds back onto itself, and is secured with three snap fasteners. Opening the snap fasteners allows the buckle to be detached from the leather strap.

The strap is also equipped with a leather keeper. The keeper is the loop-shaped leather component that holds the free end of the belt after it has passed through the buckle, helping prevent the tip from lifting, hanging loose, or moving out of position during wear.

A narrow leather retaining loop, secured by a snap fastener, passes through the keeper. This secondary retaining structure holds the keeper in its intended position and limits excessive movement along the main leather strap.

The belt tip gradually narrows from both sides and terminates in a pointed, sword-tip profile. The softly tapered outline gives the end of the strap a clean, controlled appearance while remaining consistent with the vintage military design.

The reverse side of the leather strap is stamped with the belt size and brand markings. The narrow leather retaining loop used to position the keeper is stamped with "J.Q.M.D." and the year 1939.

"J.Q.M.D." is an abbreviation for Jeffersonville Quartermaster Depot in Indiana, a major U.S. Army Quartermaster facility. The marking and date are reproduced as period-specific details referencing the original 1939-dated belt on which this model is based.

From the detachable three-snap buckle assembly and single-prong metal frame buckle to the keeper-retaining system and period-inspired stamped markings, this belt reflects Buzz Rickson's detailed approach to military reproduction. It combines the orderly appearance of a service-uniform belt with the substantial character of vegetable-tanned cowhide, making it suitable for denim, chinos, military trousers, and other casual outfits.
