Outer shell : Made from 100% pure, thick horsehide leather in a rich seal brown, this jacket is vegetable-tanned, resulting in a pigmented, genuine horse hide that is firm yet supple to the touch. This method of finishing gives the leather a distinctive and unique appearance, with natural variations in color that will only deepen with wear, adding character through creases and wear marks. It has a rugged grain and an old-fashioned appearance on the fabric's surface, contributing to its fashionable vintage feel and look. This heavyweight, real leather merges durability with natural softness, ensuring comfort in wear. Although horsehide is inherently tough, it remains pliable. It is characteristic of horsehide not to have a smooth surface, resulting in many wrinkles. These wrinkles, unique to horsehide, give the jacket a distinct appeal, different from smoother leathers. Such wrinkles are normal in a horsehide jacket and are not considered defects. For a vintage appearance, the leather of this jacket retains the original tastes of horsehide. Wear and Aging : Patina Development: Over time, the Type A-1 jacket will develop a patina unique to the wearer, especially if made from horsehide. The creases, wrinkles, and slight color variations that appear with wear contribute to the jacket’s vintage charm and authenticity.

Lining shell : Made of 100% cotton thin, lightweigt, density and tightness weave broadcloth fabric. This lining is smooth and sleek so you can take the jacket off and put it on easily.

Type of insulation : No inside padding. No fill.

Placket type : Front zipper closure from TALON with storm flap located in front of zipper closure. Additionally, a horsehide leather pull tab on the zipper allows for easy use, even while wearing gloves. The zipper is covered with a storm flap. Storm flap prevents the wind from slipping through the front.

Pocket : Two flap pockets with hidden snap buttons on the lower front section of the jacket.

Collar : Shirt-style collar without a collar band, and hidden snap buttons at the collar points.

Cuff type : The two-ply knit rib cuffs in red color with the narrow weave graduating into the wider weave at top.

Shoulder straps typifying the shape and stitch style found on original A-2. The underarms have eyelets to let moisture and humidity out. Authentic Design with Thoughtful Pocket Placement : This garment showcases a unique design feature: the pockets are positioned at different distances from the side seams, just like in the original. This variation is due to the offset zipper, which is slightly shifted from the center of the front. To ensure the overall balance of the garment, the pockets have been carefully adjusted horizontally. You may notice that the distance between the side seams and the pockets differs on each side - a detail that underscores the authenticity and skilled craftsmanship behind this piece. *This item has been specially treated to produce a vintage-like effect.
