Sugar Cane
These men's baggy jeans are made in Japan by Sugar Cane, a workwear-focused label from Toyo Enterprises known for vintage-inspired craftsmanship. This model is a modern reinterpretation of 1930s-era work pants, an era when jeans were still commonly referred to as "waist overalls." While period-correct pairs often featured suspender buttons at the waistband and a cinch back, this model intentionally omits those details for easier everyday styling. Expertly crafted with the brand's signature attention to detail, it evokes the feel of the era while fitting naturally into a modern casual wardrobe, bridging heritage aesthetics with everyday versatility. The denim used in these jeans is a medium-weight 13 oz fabric, woven from 100% non-stretch cotton in a right-hand twill construction. Indigo-dyed warp yarns are paired with undyed weft yarns, and the fabric is woven on traditional shuttle looms for a distinct vintage look and feel. Intentionally uneven yarns are used throughout, creating a rugged, coarse, bumpy surface texture. With the undyed weft subtly showing through the indigo warp, this results in subtle mottling and fine speckling, rather than a flat or uniform appearance. This subtle slubbiness is a deliberate nod to early workwear denim and adds depth and visual movement. With wear and washing, the denim evolves uniquely to reflect each wearer's lifestyle, developing expressive fading that highlights the fabric's texture. As part of the finishing process, the jeans are one-wash rinsed to reduce (not eliminate) shrinkage and provide a comfortable feel from the start. They also feature vintage-style leg twisting along both the outseam and inseam. The jeans include selvedge detailing at the interior outseam and coin pocket, along with a leather waistband patch. These jeans feature a classic button fly with antiqued metal buttons engraved with the brand logo, five belt loops, and a leather patch on the right side of the back waistband. They are finished with a traditional five-pocket layout, reinforced with rivets at key stress points, including a reinforcement rivet at the crotch, for added durability. These jeans feature a baggy fit with a wide straight leg, a button fly, and a high-rise waist. The seat and thighs are cut in a comfortable, loose, relaxed silhouette for a workwear look inspired by 1930s "waist overalls". This is a brand-new release from Sugar Cane, blending vintage aesthetics with the brand's renowned attention to historical detail and craftsmanship.

Number of Pockets: 5.
Pockets:
Front Pockets: Two front hand pockets reinforced with embossed metal rivets at stress points for enhanced durability.
Coin Pocket: One watch pocket (coin pocket) set into the right-hand pocket, also reinforced with embossed rivets. The inner edge of the coin pocket opening is finished with visible selvedge.
Rear Pockets: Two rear patch pockets with open-top construction and internal concealed rivets to preserve a clean exterior silhouette while providing reinforcement from within.
Button Type: Five-button fly (including the top button), finished with antiqued metal buttons engraved with the brand logo.
Other details: These jeans also feature five belt loops, selvage details along the interior outseam and inside the coin pocket, a leather patch positioned on the right side of the back waistband, and a classic five-pocket design reinforced with rivets. Based on 1930s-era “waist overalls,” these jeans are cut with a work-pant-inspired wide silhouette from the thighs down to the hem. While many original pairs from that period were equipped with suspender buttons at the waistband and a cinch back, Sugar Cane omits those details here as an original, everyday-friendly specification. However, key pre-war construction details are still faithfully retained, including the crotch rivet and the direction of the center-back felled seam. The denim itself is also developed to replicate the irregular yarn character of early, less-refined spinning, resulting in an intentionally uneven texture with authentic vintage workwear character.

Handling Indigo-Dyed and Garment-Dyed Products
- This product is either indigo-dyed or garment-dyed, both of which are processes known for their rich color and natural fading over time. Please note that some color transfer or unevenness may occur due to the characteristics of these dyeing methods. We kindly ask for your understanding and recommend careful handling.
- Be cautious of color transfer from friction
During wear, color may transfer to other garments, bags, chairs, or surfaces due to friction. Please take extra care when pairing with light-colored or white items.
- Washing instructions
The dye may transfer to other items during washing, so we recommend washing separately. To help reduce fading, especially in high-friction areas, turn the garment inside out before washing. Avoid vigorous scrubbing and let it air dry naturally. With repeated washing and wear, the color will gradually develop a unique, aged appearance.
- Be mindful of water and sweat
Exposure to moisture such as sweat or rain can increase the likelihood of color transfer or fading. If the fabric becomes damp, let it dry naturally away from direct sunlight.
- Avoid yellowing or discoloration from sunlight
When drying, turn the garment inside out and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight to minimize the risk of yellowing or uneven fading.
- Please handle with care and enjoy the natural aging and individuality that come with indigo and garment-dyed products.
