[How We Measure the Actual Garment]

Width (Chest Width / Half Chest): Lay the garment flat and measure straight across from side to side approximately 3 cm, or about 1.2 inches, below the armholes.

Length (Body Length): Measured from the base of the hood at the center back, where the hood joins the body, straight down to the bottom of the hem.

Sleeve (Center-Back Sleeve Length): The first sleeve measurement is taken from the center back at the base of the hood seam, across the shoulder, and down to the end of the cuff.

Medium-Weight 100% Cotton Brushed-Back Sweatshirt Fabric
The sweatshirt is made from medium-weight 100% cotton brushed-back sweatshirt fabric. The fabric has moderate substance without being either lightweight or exceptionally heavy. Fine knitted stitches characteristic of cotton sweatshirt fabric are visible across the outer surface, which is not completely uniform or smooth but retains subtle irregularity from the knitted structure along with natural surface fuzz from the cotton fibers.

The reverse side of the fabric is brushed to create a soft, raised surface. This differs from conventional loopback sweatshirt fabric, where the looped yarn structure remains visible on the inside. The raised fibers create small spaces within the brushed layer where air can be retained, and together with the thickness of the sweatshirt fabric itself, this construction helps retain body warmth.

Tubular Side-Seam-Free Body
The torso uses what is commonly referred to as tubular-knit body construction, with the body knitted as a continuous tube on a circular knitting machine. Unlike conventional cut-and-sewn construction in which separate front and back body panels are joined along the left and right sides, the torso itself forms one continuous tubular section.

As a result, there are no vertical side seams along either side of the body, and therefore no corresponding seam allowances or overlapping layers of fabric at those locations. This reduces localized thickness and ridges along the sides of the torso and gives the garment a clean side profile. Tubular body construction is a traditional method found in vintage American T-shirts and sweatshirts and is one of the details that contributes to the classic athletic-wear construction of this model.

One-Wash Finish
The garment is given a one-wash finish during the final production stage. This process gently relaxes the initial firmness of the sweatshirt fabric while retaining an appropriate degree of body, resulting in a fabric that begins to conform more naturally to the wearer from the outset.

Because the garment is washed once during production, the risk of significant shrinkage after purchase is reduced compared with an unwashed cotton garment. However, because this is a 100% cotton knitted garment, slight additional dimensional changes may still occur depending on the washing method, drying conditions, and individual garment variation. With repeated wear and laundering, the cotton fibers will gradually settle and soften, allowing the fabric to develop a more broken-in texture that conforms more naturally to the wearer over time.

Set-In Sleeve Construction
The sweatshirt uses set-in sleeves. Each sleeve cap is joined to the corresponding armhole, with the sleeve beginning at the outer end of the shoulder seam.

Unlike raglan construction, where the sleeve panel continues toward the neckline, the set-in configuration clearly separates the shoulder line from the sleeve attachment. This keeps the shoulder area from appearing excessively broad and creates the defined shoulder shape associated with classic sweatshirt construction.

Double-Layer Hood
The hood is constructed from two layers of sweatshirt fabric rather than as a single layer. Using sweatshirt fabric on both the exterior and interior gives the hood additional thickness and volume.

This construction allows the hood to retain a more defined shape when it is worn down against the upper back and creates the fuller hood profile associated with vintage-inspired athletic sweatshirts.

Overlapped Hood Front with Bartack Reinforcement
At the front of the hood, the two fabric edges do not simply meet edge to edge. One side overlaps the other, creating a layered junction at the front neckline.

A bartack is applied at this overlapped section to reinforce the junction where multiple layers of fabric meet and where stress can become concentrated.

Sewn Buttonhole-Style Hood Openings without Drawcord
A pair of buttonhole-style openings is positioned at the front of the hood where a drawcord would normally pass through. However, no drawcord is installed on this model.

Rather than using inserted metal eyelets, the openings are formed through stitching. This creates a hood detail inspired by vintage sweatshirt construction without the use of metal hardware.

Kangaroo Handwarmer Pocket
A kangaroo pocket made from the same sweatshirt fabric as the body is attached to the front. The pocket is constructed as a separate fabric panel sewn onto the exterior of the sweatshirt, with the left and right openings leading into one continuous interior compartment.

The pocket is intended primarily as a handwarmer rather than as secure storage for small items. Its large openings and continuous interior allow both hands to be inserted easily, but items placed inside may fall out through either opening.

Rib-Knit Finished Pocket Openings
The two openings of the kangaroo pocket are finished with separate rib-knit fabric that wraps around the pocket edges. This reinforces areas that are repeatedly stretched and subjected to friction as the hands are inserted and removed.

Because the rib knit has elasticity, the openings can flex to some degree as the hands pass through while helping the pocket edges retain their shape.

Four-Needle Stitching at the Kangaroo Pocket
Four-needle stitching is used to attach the kangaroo pocket. The visible four-needle stitching adds a subtle visual accent to the otherwise plain design.

Extended Rib-Knit Sleeve Cuffs
The sleeve ends are finished with separate rib-knit cuffs. The rib knit has greater elasticity than the main sweatshirt fabric, allowing the cuffs to follow the wrists while limiting excessive opening at the sleeve ends.

The cuffs are proportionally longer than those used on many standard sweatshirts. By covering a greater area of the wrist, they create the distinctive elongated cuff shape associated with vintage-inspired athletic wear.

Extended Rib-Knit Waistband
The lower body is finished with a separate extended rib-knit waistband, similar in construction to the sleeve cuffs. The rib knit has greater elasticity than the main sweatshirt fabric and follows the waist area with a moderate degree of tension.

The elasticity of the waistband helps the lower edge of the sweatshirt remain positioned around the waist rather than dropping freely below it, contributing to the controlled silhouette associated with classic sweatshirt construction.

Two-Needle and Four-Needle Stitching
Different stitching configurations are used according to the construction of each garment section. Two-needle stitching, visible as two parallel rows of stitches, is used at major junctions including the hood, shoulders, armholes, sleeves, sleeve cuffs, and waistband.

Four-needle stitching is used for the attachment of the kangaroo pocket. The use of different stitch configurations according to the garment section creates distinct visible stitch lines across the otherwise plain exterior.
