Although labeled as size M, this cap is offered in one free size that fits most men, comfortably accommodating head circumferences up to around 60 cm (approximately 23.6 inches).
This men's casual wool knit cap with a short brim (visor) is made in Japan by Buzz Rickson, a militarywear-focused brand under Toyo Enterprises renowned for its vintage-inspired craftsmanship. Part of Buzz Rickson's U.S. Army collection, this model is a modern reproduction of the iconic M-1941 wool knit cap, also known as the Jeep Cap or Radar Cap, originally adopted by the U.S. Army in 1941. Expertly crafted with the brand's signature attention to detail, it faithfully recreates both the historical accuracy and spirit of classic U.S. military headgear while blending seamlessly into contemporary casual wear, balancing vintage authenticity with everyday functionality. The fabric used for this model is 100% wool, constructed from double-layered olive-colored rib-knit fabric. The interior is unlined, intentionally leaving the knit texture exposed for natural comfort. The crown features a distinctive six-panel construction. It is knitted in the round and then seamed with six stitched segments that converge at the top center, forming a six-pointed "starfish" pattern. The inner seams of these six panels are reinforced with overlock stitching for added durability and shape retention. The cap features a short front brim measuring approximately 4.5 cm (about 1.8 inches). A core insert is enclosed inside the brim to maintain its shape and prevent deformation over time. The rounded crown has a low-to-medium profile, and the hem is folded upward around the sides and back. When unfolded, this ribbed section extends downward to provide additional protection for the ears and back of the neck against cold weather. Although labeled as size M, this cap is offered in one free size that fits most men, comfortably accommodating head circumferences up to around 60 cm (approximately 23.6 inches). This item is a brand-new original release from Buzz Rickson that combines vintage military aesthetics with the brand's signature Japanese craftsmanship.

About the M1941 wool knit cap (also known as the M-1941 Jeep Cap or Radar Cap) issued to U.S. Army personnel during World War II.
Cpl. "Radar" O'Reilly wearing the standard M1941 wool knit cap ("Jeep Cap") on the TV series MASH, which popularized the cap's "Radar cap" nickname.
The Cap, Wool, Knit, M-1941 - commonly called the "Jeep cap" - was introduced by the U.S. Army in late 1941 alongside the M1 steel helmet. It was officially standardized on 1941 to be issued as a cold-weather knit cap with a short visor, intended for soldiers to wear under the M1 helmet for extra warmth and padding. Initially given mainly to enlisted personnel, this wool cap quickly became popular as informal headgear worn on its own, thanks to its comfort and casual look. The cap remained widely used by GIs through most of WWII. It was gradually phased out in 1944?45 in favor of the new cotton field cap (Cap, Field, OD, with Visor) introduced with the layered M-1943 uniform, though Jeep caps continued in service until war's end. The cap's postwar legacy endured in popular culture (e.g. worn by the character "Radar" in MASH*) and in later military cold-weather gear, leading to its nickname "Radar cap" and continued civilian popularity.
This product is a reproduction model faithfully recreating the original M1941 wool knit cap (also known as the M-1941 Jeep Cap or Radar Cap). While the original was available in multiple sizes, this reproduction is offered in a single men's size (Medium) only.
