This men's leather jacket is made in Japan by TOYS McCOY. It is a reproduction of the Type A-2 flight jacket worn by Steve McQueen as Captain Virgil Hilts in the film The Great Escape. Based on careful examination of the jacket seen in the film, period still photographs, and related reference materials, this model recreates the distinctive appearance and key details of the V. HILTS A-2 while incorporating a carefully balanced fit suitable for contemporary casual wear.

The outer shell is made from thick genuine horsehide leather in a rich seal-brown color. The horsehide is combination-tanned using both vegetable tannins and chrome tanning agents, followed by a pigment finish. This tanning and finishing process gives the leather a firm yet supple character while allowing it to develop a deeper and more distinctive appearance through continued wear. The jacket is lined with lightweight cotton broadcloth for smooth and comfortable layering.

The design features a War Time TALON front zipper with a wind-blocking storm flap, a pointed collar with a collar band, brown wool rib-knit cuffs and waistband, and two front flap pockets with concealed snap fasteners. Reproduction details include hand-painted rank insignia on the shoulder epaulets, an embossed "V. HILTS" leather name tag on the left chest, an "ARMY AIR CORPS" shoulder-sleeve decal on the left sleeve, and reproduction markings applied to the lining, including the "V. HILTS 0817218" stencil.

Lining : Made from 100% cotton lightweight broadcloth. This thin, tightly woven fabric has a smooth surface, allowing the jacket to be put on and removed easily while helping reduce friction against inner layers.

Type of insulation : No padding or fill.

Front closure : War Time TALON front zipper with a storm flap. The zipper is covered by the storm flap, which helps reduce wind penetration through the front opening.

Pockets : Two front flap pockets with concealed snap fasteners.

Collar : Pointed collar with a collar band. The collar is complemented by a metal collar hook and concealed ball-and-socket-style snap fasteners at the collar points for a secure and streamlined appearance.
